About the Author

Anne Maczulak holds a PhD from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Golden Gate University. In her twenty-five year laboratory career, she has studied diverse aspects of environmental and consumer product microbiology. Her research has included studies on the protozoa found inside a cow’s stomach, bacteria in oxygen-less environments, yeast that grows on the scalp, and the cysts that contaminate water. She has helped develop new disinfectant products, water purifiers, antimicrobial soaps, and deodorants. She has also guided projects on biofilms that coat the inside of faucets, pipes and toilets; cold-tolerant bacteria for use in detergents; and microbial products for septic tanks. She divides her time between consulting for drug and biotech companies, and her writing projects. Anne lives in northern California with her family of rescued golden retrievers. E-mail Anne Here
